GRAMMY® and multiple Latin GRAMMY® winner Aymée Nuviola announces the release of her new album, «Aymée Nuviola Feat. Kemuel Roig Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club», a live recording available beginning August 28, 2026 that captures one of the most significant moments of her artistic career.
Recorded during performances in October 2025 at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, the project documents the extraordinary musical chemistry between Nuviola and virtuoso Cuban pianist Kemuel Roig, on a stage regarded as a must-play landmark in world jazz history. Founded in 1959 in the heart of London’s Soho, Ronnie Scott’s has hosted historic figures including Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Prince, Amy Winehouse and Jimi Hendrix.
A POSSIBLE MILESTONE FOR CUBAN AND SPANISH-LANGUAGE MUSIC
A review of discographies and historical records available since Ronnie Scott’s founding in 1959 has not, to date, turned up a Cuban vocalist who, as principal artist, had previously released a full live audio album recorded at the club. The venue carries an extraordinary tradition of vocal recordings by women — including Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella in London (1974), Ronnie Scott’s Presents Carmen McRae Live (1977), Sarah Vaughan’s Live at Ronnie Scott’s (1977), and Nina Simone’s celebrated Live at Ronnie Scott’s (1984) — as well as notable Cuban precedents: Mayra Caridad Valdés recorded there as Irakere’s vocalist, though the resulting album is credited to the group rather than to her as principal artist; and Cuban artist Yusa headlined Yusa Live at Ronnie Scott’s, documented to date as a filmed concert (DVD) rather than a commercial audio album. Brazilian artist Flora Purim, for her part, appeared on Fourth World – Live at Ronnie Scott’s (1992), an album credited to the group Fourth World rather than to her individually.
Against that backdrop, all signs point to Aymée Nuviola potentially becoming the first Cuban vocalist to release, as principal artist, a full live audio album recorded at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Since no equivalent precedent has been located among Spanish-speaking female vocalists either, there is also the possibility that this marks a milestone for Spanish-language music at this venue more broadly. This should be treated as a possible historic milestone based on research available to date, not as an absolute certification, since Ronnie Scott’s has not yet officially confirmed the record from its own archives.
What is beyond dispute is that Aymée Nuviola feat. Kemuel Roig – Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club places a great contemporary Cuban voice within an extraordinary tradition of vocal recordings tied to a stage that has hosted the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae and Nina Simone.
